St. Jimbob of the Apokalypse

I posted a musing on poverty not too long ago, and how it's an important opportunity for Christians to obtain graces. Relying on the State to deal with the poor is really an abdication of our duty to personally care for our brethren. Come Judgment Day, as expounded in Matthew 25, I don't imagine that Jesus will welcome people solely because they voted for people that would fund and expand entitlement programs. Just my $0.02.

There's a huge schism between Catholics and cafeteria Catholics. This is a free country and people are free to believe as they see fit but just because they are nominally RC doesn't mean that 'progressive' policies automatically become church doctrine. Years ago my Dad told me that it's hard to be a liberal and a Catholic. It took a long time but I gradually came to an understanding of what he meant.
