I am blog rolling a fantastic blog I came across today called Dinocrat. A good piece of work includes this post about CNN's embarrassing coverage of the papal funeral. Jack Risko may not be Catholic but he is is very perceptive and "gets it."
I didn't stay up to watch the funeral, but my brother taped it and Christiane Amanpoure was brutal. He told me that she sounded like her knowledge of Catholicism was isolated to some Idiot's Guide she read an hour before the microphone went live. At the time of the blessing, she said something along the lines of 'we now enter the phase of transubstantiation, where the faithful truly believe that the bread becomes the body of Christ' which is a laughable effort at narrating a liturgy. I have never heard ANYONE refer to a Mass and bring up Transubstantiation- they just call it the Blessing.
Blessing=event
Transubstantiation= process
Did you burp during Transubstantiation or was the guy behind us?
Absurd.
